Create or join a workspace

Most people join a workspace their team already has. Creating a brand-new one is set up with the Amdahl team.

Join by your email domain

The usual way in is to join your team's existing workspace. If a workspace has domain self-join turned on, anyone with a verified email at one of its domains can join it themselves, no invitation, no waiting on an admin. Right after you sign in, the workspaces your domain matches show up in a picker; pick one to join, or Join all if there are several.

Join your team

Your email domain gives you access to these workspaces. Join one to get started.

You can also join later from the workspace switcher at the bottom of the left rail: a Joinable via your domain section lists the same workspaces, one click to join and jump in. Joining is durable, you stay a member until you leave or an admin removes you.

Get added by an admin

If self-join is off, or your email domain is not on the workspace, an admin adds you directly from the workspace's People settings: they enter your email and you are in right away. New to Amdahl? The same step sets up your account and emails you a setup link to finish signing in. Either way there is nothing to accept, you are a member the next time you sign in.

Creating a new workspace

Self-serve workspace creation is off by default right now, new workspaces are set up with the Amdahl team. When creation is off, the Create workspace option is hidden from the switcher, and going to the create page shows a short "creation is off" note with a way to get in touch.

Workspace creation is off

New workspaces are created by the Amdahl team right now. Ask your admin to add you to an existing workspace, or get in touch and we'll set one up.

Need a new workspace? Contact us and we will set one up. If your team has creation enabled, naming a workspace is all it takes, you become its owner, the web address (its slug) is generated from the name, and you can rename it later from General. Creating a workspace can also capture your company domain, which lets the business profile auto-set itself up from the web straight away.
